what is the price range for a 3rd gen lude these days? Lets say 100,000 miles on it. What would that go for? All Stock. The reason I am asking is that my wife wants to learn how to drive. First thing that came to my mind was a 3rd gen lude because they are simple and very easy to drive.

For a car that's almost 20 years old? I dunno about kelley blue book... If you can find a nice one with little to no rust, maybe it's worth that mcuh. I'd pay 1600 for a good condition example at the most.

I definitely would like her to have a great condition 3rd gen. I wouldn't want my wife driving some rusted scrap metal.

That officially makes me a retard for not thinking of that. I can't believe I did not think of that! OK, the plan is I will start looking for a mint 1996 Si. I do not want to deal with the headache of the vtec. Besides, I heard Si is the best all around Lude, and thats what seems to be the right decision.

the only thing that many people topic is h22 vs h23..
the only thing your gonna find out is the h23 is better for boost because of its low compression ratio, dont get me wrong, both can be boosted, but the h23 will be more capable to last longer and run better. the h22 is better for N/a for its high compression
the only difference that i can think is that the vtec model has bigger brakes for more stopping power. both models are very similar though. both h series both honda..
